Scott Benites (b.1991) has always been fascinated with art. Growing up on the Upper West Side, he has found inspiration in city architecture, scenic moments in nature and the hustle and bustle of the city.  His art is quirky, unique, and gritty filled with social-political overtones. Many of his unique pieces share an intimate story of New York City streets.

“My goal is to enhance people’s lives through art and creativity. I want to make art accessible and make a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Scott has always loved art. After he was inspired by after school classes at the MoMa, Scott was accepted to the Art Institute of Boston. He then went to Pratt for higher learning in design. After taking some classes at Pratt, he got his Bachelors of Fine Arts at Lehman College graduating magna cum laude.

Scott is a native New Yorker born and raised in the city.  His family is of Latino descent. His fathers is Brazilian American and his mother is Dominican American.  He lives on the Upper West Side and much of his artwork is a reflection of the neighborhood. 

Scott’s main subjects include cityscape paintings of local views. He is fascinated  by the architecture New York is known for and he paints the Manhattan skyline. He says that “oil paint is so versatile that you can thin down the paint to create gentle wash paintings or layer the pigment to make textured impasto pieces.” 

Scott’s quality artwork is recognized by the people of the community and others around the world.

Scott’s artwork has been shown in  numerous gallery’s around the five boroughs of New York. He recently had a group exhibition downtown at the New York Art Gallery in Tribeca, at the Lehman College art gallery in the Bronx, and at the Friday studio gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
