F.A.Q.

What is the BSP?

The Big Screen Plaza is a cutting-edge multimedia venue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan – your point of access to artistic & cultural innovations occurring throughout the city and elsewhere. Overlooking a 10,000-sq. ft. Plaza, our HD-format LED Screen measures 30 x 15 ft. and displays compelling new content 365 days a year, from classic cinema and recent blockbusters, to interactive gaming, live performances and more.

How do I know what’s on at the BSP?

Stay up-to-date, even up-to-minute, on the screenings, games, events and other exciting programming going on in the Plaza by checking the schedule section of our site; see what’s on right now on our home page. For for sneak previews of what’s coming up next,  sign up for our mailing list and follow us on Twitter!

Do I need tickets to attend BSP screenings and events?

BSP screenings and public events are open to everyone in the Plaza, free of charge – just show up, settle in, and enjoy.

Is the Plaza wheelchair-accessible?

Yes, there is wheelchair access to the Big Screen Plaza.

Are there rain dates for BSP programming?

There are no rain dates for BSP programming – we’re hardy city folk, after all.

Can I bring my child to BSP?

Certainly –  please see our schedule for family screenings and events.

Can I reserve tables at the Plaza?

The tables and chairs available throughout the Plaza are first-come, first-serve. However, there are plenty of them – and plenty of room for blankets, etc., for your movie night picnic.

Can I present my work at the BSP?

BSP is currently accepting artists’ submissions in 1080i (HD interlaced video, 1920×1080, 16:9). Please upload the file(s) to Dropbox and share with info@bigscreenplaza.com.

OR send DVDs to the following address:

Big Screen Plaza
(c/o submissions)
611 Broadway, ste 816
New York, NY 10012

Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are only able to contact those artists whose work we’d like to exhibit.  We appreciate your understanding. When sending materials or proposals, please also consider whether they are appropriate for exhibition in an outdoor venue, in compliance with New York City public decency laws and guidelines: if your content would score higher than a PG-13 rating at the movies, or is likely to put those audiences dining upstairs and outside off their food, it will probably be better served elsewhere. All content is at the discretion of our curatorial team.

Can I partner with BSP to put on an event?

The combination of public and private space surrounding the Screen has served many functions: feature and documentary premieres, festivals,  gallery-hosted multi-day events, live sports events, and game console play with the general public. Simultaneously, The Eventi – a Kimpton hotel – as part of our venue’s space offers a large ballroom with video and audio capacity, which can be synched simultaneously to the screen. The 5th floor screening room doubles as a skybox; with a direct view of the screen, this space offers an intimate viewing experience for VIP and special screenings. So send us an email with what you have in mind!
