 Joel Trussell earned a BFA in drawing from the University of Tennessee, then soon moved to Seattle and worked as an animation director for three years. In 2002 he left the studio life to go solo directing music videos, commercials, film and TV segments. Trussell also paints when he can and has shown work in several cities such as New York, LA and Portland. His music videos have won several awards including the Ottawa International Animation Festival’s “Best Music Video” award in 2006, and appeared on “favorite” lists of Pitchfork Media and the late great Res Magazine.  Trussell has also been a featured speaker presenting his work as part of the Pictoplasma Festival in both New York and Germany. His animation also appear on Pictoplasma’s Character’s in Motion DVD series.
